The Returners CD Release Show!

You’ve probably already seen this on Facebook, but here you go!
Returners Album Release Party

The Returners have invited us to come and run games at their upcoming Album Release party, at the One2One Bar on Lamar, south of the river.  We’ll have WiiU, Lethal League, and perennial favorite: Tetris Attack! running all evening, in case you need a brief break from having your faces melted off by the line-up.  If seeing the Returners isn’t enough to get you out of the house (and if it isn’t, what’s wrong with you?), then the least you can do is come out to see us!

Hometown Throwdown: Puzzle Bobble Edition!

We’re returning to Kick Butt in August (a little later than usual, the 4th Saturday) for another tournament, with another show!

page-0

This time, we’ll be facing off with Puzzle Bobble, and welcoming Brazilian Space Program to the stage. We were down at the Scoot Inn last year, and heard a rendition they did of the Sagat Theme from SF2, and we knew we had to host them.

We’ll be playing best 2 out of 3, single elimination rounds on the 1995 Super Nintendo Release of Puzzle Bobble (AKA Bust-a-Move)
Sign ups are first come, first served, and we’ll be capping the tournament at 16 entrants this time, so be sure to sign up as soon as you can. We’ll be taking sign-ups in person at the event starting at 8pm, or you can sign up by shooting us an e-mail at [info at pixelsbar.com]

Prizes!!!

  • First Place: $60 Kickbutt Gift Card
  • Second Place: $30 Kickbutt Gift Card
  • Third Place: $10 Kickbutt Gift Card

In addition to our Puzzle Bobble tournament, we’ll have Mario Kart, Hidden in Plain Sight, Broforce, and all our other classics.

$5 cover for the night (until 11), but the tournament is free to enter.

Don’t know Brazilian Space Program? Check them out here!

NEST Anniversary Pictures!

Just want to drop everyone a quick line, and thank them for coming out to make our room at the NEST party such a success.  Look for us to post the details about our next Throwdown here soon!

Pictures and Video From Our Latest Throwdown

Thanks to everyone for coming out for our most recent Hometown Throwdown—it was our biggest and best event to date!

Congratulations to Chris Taylor who took first place in our Tetris Attack tournament, as well as David Boyd and Lauren Liebowitz for fighting the good fight and coming in second and third. Huge thanks also to The Returners, for a spectacular performance (including the live debut of their new version of the Dire Dire Docks theme from Mario 64).

Thanks also to everyone who only came so they could try out Mario Kart without having to buy a Wii U. We know you’re out there. We understand.

And of course, thank you to Kick Butt Coffee, Music & Booze, our gracious hosts, for giving us all a place to drink and a place to play.

Keep your eyes peeled on this space for the latest updates, news, and Pixels events. We’ll see you again by August!

P. S.: The Returners, in all their glory:
